Philip’s fundfraiser: Local man Philip Howard is currently preparing to for an extraordinary challenge of a lifetime. On the 11th of January, Philip will depart on a 12,000km bicycle journey from Cairo in Egypt to Cape Town in South Africa. He holding a fundraising night on Saturday the 1st December in The Copper Still, Dromod in aid of his 4 month African cycle and all money raised will go towards Pieta House, the Centre for the Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm. People can sponsor each of the kilometres Philip cycles and be in with a chance of winning many excellent prizes on the night. Sponsor cards are available in local shops or on the night and it is only 2 euro to sponsor a line. With Fergal McGill at the bandstand, a great night is promised. There will be a special prize of a Christmas hamper on the night, your support would be greatly appreciated.
O’Neill School of Dancing: A note to hand from Tracy to let you know that the O’Neill School of Dancing are running a table quiz in Fitzpatrick’s lounge, Mohill on the December 7th next starting at 9 30 it’s fundraising event for school of dancing to help with its with costs towards world championships in Boston next year at Easter your support would be greatly appreciated.
Sympathy: We would like to offer our condolences to family and friends of the late Lizzie Kate Barry nee Hanley, Teffia Park, Longford and formerly from Cloonturk, Dromod, who died on Friday last at her home. Lizzie was laid to rest in Ballymacormac cemetery on Sunday last. May she Rest in Peace
Bornacoola gaa: Bornacoola contested the Division 2 final on Sunday last where neighbours were the opposition. The game was a lively encounter right from the start with great point scoring on both sides. In the end Gortlettragh proved the hungrier and finished deserving winners by a three point margin.
Bornacoola Youth Club: This week we had the first music session for the senior and teen club’s with Sharon Jones and Ronnie Duignan, a great night was had by all. The next session is planned for the 12th of Dec. anyone in either club that plays an instrument or can sing are welcome to come along. The six junior leaders have completed their training and will be taking up their roles in the club in January. A reminder that the club members are doing a food appeal; we would greatly appreciate any support form the community and club members. All donations of non perishable goods are welcome. Please call 0894258413 for more information. The members of the teen club taking part in the drugs and alcohol courses that is being run by Grainne Duignan have completed the third week of six. A reminder of some up coming events for the different clubs are: December 7th the junior and senior clubs will be going to Carrick Cineplex to see The Nativity 2. December 14th the teen club will be going to Mulvey’s centre to go bowling. Also on the 14th the junior and senior clubs will be going to Drumshambo to take part in a table quiz organised by North Connacht Youth services. For anyone doing a clear out before Christmas please remember the clothes bank is still situated at the community centre with the funds from it going to the youth club and cancer research. In conjunction with the Bornacoola Development Association we will be holding the official opening if the new building The Hive on the 9th of December at 3pm and every member of the parish is welcome to along and join us.

Night at the Dogs: Annaduff G.A.A are holding “ A Night at the Dogs” at Longford Greyhound Stadium on Friday November 30th. First Race at 8pm.Tickets are €10,children free.€100 to sponsor a race . Sponsorship of Race Cards available at €100, €50 and €25. Draw on the night. This is our only fundraiser for the year.

Parish G.A.A Lotto: It is now possible to buy one year tickets for the Parish G.A.A Lotto on the Website. At the draw held in Duignan’s, there was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 7,20,21,23. The 50 euro winner was Gerard Gannon, Castlerea. The 25 euro winners Micheal O’Dowd, Oak Meadows, Drumsna, Mary Fox, Lisahy, Ballinamore, Mary Oates, Fearnaught, Joanna Duignan, Gortinee. The next draw takes place in Cox’s on Sunday night next with a Jackpot of 3,300 euro.
