There was much regret locally on the occasion of the death of Tommie Gibney, Cullaboy, Kilcogy. Deceased had been in failing health for a time and passed away peacefully in Sheelin Nursing Home in the presence of his family to whom he was devoted. Aged 74 he was pre-deceased by his wife Mary 10 years ago. Tommie was an electrician of note and long before ESB apprenticeships became the norm Tommie was the man to call when the lights went out! He was many a housewives’ saviour when electrical appliances went on the blink and his calm competence soon had the matter sorted. He is survived by his daughter Helen, sons Eamon & Thomas and grandchildren, sister Rose Mary, and brothers Seamus & Bennie and a large family circle to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. The funeral took place following requiem Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Loughduff to local cemetery. May he rest in peace.

The passing of Phil Masterson, Ballinagh is deservedly mourned over a wide area. A dedicated football supporter and a true Gael, there is no doubt he was a legend. For so many years his pub at the top of the town was a stopping off point for local supporters on their way home from Breffni park, still in the heat of the game. However, after a few pints and much heated debate the whole tenure of the game could be altered and Phil always told it as it was. We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife devoted Eileen, daughter and members of his extended family circle. May he rest in peace.
