In conjunction with Vocations Sunday, Bishop Francis Duffy of Ardagh & Clonmacnoise issued a Pastoral letter which was read at all Masses at the weekend. At present there is a shortage of priests in the country which is no different in our diocese and with many priests due to retire in the next few years, the situation will become more serious as presently there is only one student to be ordained here. As part of preparation for the future, Bishop Francis intends to meet with Pastoral Councils who will play a key role in the Diocese. Prayers were offered during Masses for vocations.

The Senior team travelled to Lavey on Sunday afternoon and well done to both teams who produced a lively and exciting game. There were shades of the championship winning team as the locals fought back and hopefully, this will continue for the rest of the season. Final score Lavey 3-9 to Mullahoran 1-15.

Ceoil & Craic
There was top class entertainment in the Pikers Lodge on Saturday night last as family and friends of the late Felix Halton gathered to set the wheels in motion to produce a book of his poems and stories. His poems covered everyday life with E.S. & B. telling of rural electrification, My World Has Got Two Feet told of his ramblings and My Breffni Rose is a tribute to Catherina McKiernan. What Felix would have thought of it all we are not sure. Well done to Con and Bridie who organized an impromptu evening and hopefully, we will have an excuse to have a similar one in the near future. In the meantime, we look forward to further celebration of Felix’s work.
