Well done to the children who represented Kenagh at county level in draughts, chess and indoor soccer. Both our U10 and U13 indoor soccer teams were very unlucky to be beaten in close games by the eventual county champions Clonguish. Well done to the children and coaches who put in a huge effort, while no medals were won, a very enjoyable time was had by all. 2014 saw Kenagh community games enter a girls U10 indoor soccer team for the 1st time, congratulations to the girls involved and their coach Sean Kelly. The girls were very unlucky to lose to Ardagh in the last minute of a very tight game. Next Wednesday will be Ash Wednesday and will be the first day of the seven week season of Lent. Holy ashes will be distributed after seven thirty mass on Wednesday evening. Time was when the Lenten season was given to fast and abstinence, prayer and devotion. At present Lenten activities means very little more than just Ash Wednesday and the Easter ceremonies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and finishing up with the Easter Saturday night vigil with nothing special for the days in between. No doubt a far cry from the severe rules and regulations of half a century ago. Pancake Tuesday also occurs this week which is an event much looked forward to by young and old.

Good luck and best wishes to all the boys and girls of sixth class in Kenagh national School who will be making their Confirmation on next Saturday, March 8th at 12 noon. Full list of names next week.
