COLOURING COMPETITION WINNER: Well done to Katie O’Reilly who was the winner of the senior category in the St Patrick’s Festival Colouring Competition run by Longford Chamber of Commerce. Katie is daughter of Kieran and Caroline O Reilly, Killeen and she is a 6th class pupil of St.Gusacht’s national school in Bunlahy. Congratulations Katie!
COUNTRY MARKETS: The winners of our free draw which was held on Friday last were Jessica Walsh, Elizabeth Brady and Josephine Cullivan, so congrats to all. Our Easter market will be held on Holy Saturday March 30th from 10-00am to 12-00 noon, and not on Good Friday. Patrons are asked to please note that this change of day and time is for the Easter market only. Easter cards,cakes and goodies are now available.
CYCLE TO CROAGH PATRICK: The 3rd Annual Cycle and Climb to Croagh Patrick for the Parish of Granard Lourdes Invalid Fund, will take place on Saturday, 1st June 2013. 2012 was a very successful and enjoyable day as over 40 cyclist completed the event, while many more people participated in the climb. We hope this year will be equally successful, and there is plenty of time for any aspiring cyclist to fit in the training. A special event to launch this year’s cycle will take place on Saturday, 4th May, from 9 on Saturday morning a Static Cycle “1500km from Granard to Lourdes” will take place, followed by a Fancy Dress Party in John V Donohoes on Saturday night. ST.VINCENT DE PAUL: The committee of the Granard Branch of St Vincent de Paul wish to sincerely thank all who attended the opening of their shop NEW 2 U on market street on Saturday last. RUN /WALK: Ballymore Minor Board are hosting a 5K/10K road run/walk on Sunday April 7th next with registration from 10am to 11-30am. WEDDING: St.Mary’s Church in Granard was the setting for a lovely wedding on Thursday last March 14th when Fr. Simon Cadam PP united Louise Campbell, daughter of Eileen and the late Francie Campbell, Muckerstaff and Ciaran Walsh, son of Gerry and Julia Walsh, Granard. Louise had Elisabeth Campbell, Caroline McDermott and Elaine Conlon as her bridesmaids while Ciaran had Thomas Walsh, Gene Kearney and Fergus Kelly as his bestman and groomsmen. Music in the church was by Claire Monahan and Musa. Following the ceremony the bridal party and their guests travelled to The Hudson Bay Hotel in Athlone where they were treated to a beautiful meal and danced the night away. We join with the Campbell and Walsh families in wishing Ciaran and Louise a long and happy life together.
