The 8p.m. Mass in Boherquill this Saturday will be an Anniversary Mass in memory of the late Callaghan & Rowe deceased family members.

We extend sincere sympathy to the extended family, neighbours and friends on the death of Paddy Nally, Lismacaffrey who died after a short illness. Paddy’s removal took place from Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown to St. Mary’s Church, Boherquill on last Saturday week, 15th August and his funeral Mass was in Boherquill on Sunday, 16th followed by his burial in Milltown Cemetery. May Paddy rest in peace.

Please note that for the Month of September weekend Masses will be Saturday’s 8p.m. in Rathowen and Sunday’s 11a.m. in Boherquill.

As most of our readers know there are many transfers of priests in our Ardagh & Clonmacnoise Diocese and sadly for this parish we are losing Fr. Joe McGrath who transfers to Ballinamuck Parish where hopefully, he will be very happy, as he changes Counties from Westmeath to Longford. Following Mass at 8p.m. in Boherquill this Saturday, 29th there will be a farewell function in Streete Parish Park Community Centre and everyone is very welcome to attend and wish Fr. Joe well for his future and thank him for his Pastoral Work in our parish over the past years. We hope some people from Rathowen Parish will come along, as they will be very welcome. Please pass on the word to your friends etc. That’s this Saturday straight after 8p.m. Mass. Fr. Joe is being replaced by Fr. Nigel Charles who we will welcome the following week. The celebration is being organised by the Parish Pastoral Council. For any queries please contact Pastoral council member, John White 086 0604042.

We trust all the children had a great holiday period with Schools closed and we wish them all well as they get used to early starts etc. again.

Belated congratulations to Olive Butler, daughter of Francis & Janet and Paddy Carroll who were married in St. Mary’s, Church of Ireland, Streete on Monday, 3rd August. We wish the newlyweds a long, healthy and happy life together.

With the holidays at an end, no doubt there will be more notes for publication. Please send notes on or before Saturday’s to Brian at 086 2596656 or email .
