North Longford Men’s Group
The weekly meetings for the group have concluded for the summer months and will reconvene in September. Our annual four day break is upon us as we travel to Wexford, staying at the Talbot Hotel. Many places of interest that we are visiting - Powerscourt House & Gardens, Glendalough, Dunbrody Famine Ship, JFK homestead, National Heritage park Waterford crystal etc, Looking forward to a fantastic and exciting trip. Our garden is constantly making progress and looking superb with many vegetables and flowers. Many thanks to all who have made it possible and to all who made the past year such a fantastic success, Thanks also to out chef’s who look after the group on Fridays Mary & Maire. Wishing everyone a very enjoyable summer, and hoping that you gather all your harvest.
Wee Ireland are holding a recycling day next Saturday in Fr McGee Park from 2pm to 5pm. Its for household electrical waste so anything that has a plug or a battery will be accepted free of charge.
Our own local man, Deacon Seamus O’Rourke from Aughagreagh will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Francis Duffy on Sunday next 21st June at 3pm in St Mel’s Cathedral in Longford. Everyone is welcome to attend this ceremony and should be seated by 2.45pm. Fr Seamus will celebrate his first mass in St Colmcille’s Church on on Monday 22nd at 8pm. Our prayers and thoughts are with Seamus on this joyous occasion for himself and for our parish community.
Colmcille minor club are holding their annual car bingo at the cross on Friday 3rd July at 7pm. Their will be lots of great prizes and spot prizes on the night. This is the clubs main fundraiser for the year and we would like to thank everyone for their loyal support in previous years

The club ran a very successfully table quiz in Murtagh’s pub on Friday night last and would like to thank everyone who turned out to support it and also a big thank you to David Reyonlds for doing quiz master on the night.
Graduation mass for 6th class pupils in St Colmcille’s school on Thursday evening 18th at 8pm.
Congratulations to local woman, Helen Murtagh who was part of the lucky euro millions winning syndicate from C & D Foods who scooped a half million euro prize in a recent draw. Enjoy your winnings Helen.

Sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the late Tommy Reilly, Corrickquirk whose funeral mass was celebrated in St Mary’s Church, Legga on Tuesday, 9th June. May he rest in peace.
