Their was widespread shock sadness and grief in the entire community when the news broke on Tuesday last of the sudden and untimely death of Ronan Reilly, Ballinroey. Beloved son of Pat and Martha. Grandson of Jenny McGivney, and brother of Declan, Noel, Damien, Enda, Patricia, Annemarie, Jacinta, Yvonne and Elaine. Ronan was a very popular young man in the locality and will be sadly missed by all who had come to know him in his short life. To his family and very many Friends we offer our sincere sympathy
May he rest in Peace.
Farewell social and presentation to Father P.J. Fitzpatrick on Friday, 28th August in the Pikers Lodge, Loch Gowna at 8pm. Buffet served 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
Ardscoil Phádraig are currently finalising their enrolment process for QQI Level 5 courses in Animal Care and Nursing Studies. These QQI Level 5 courses are suitable for both school leavers and mature students who wish to return to education and gain new skills or employment. The Brian Boru fun weekend will be held on the weekend of 14th 15th and 16th of August. There will be loads of events for all ages from bingo to treasure hunt rowing challenge and many more events. So keep the date in mind. It promise to be a real fun week for all.

The death took place of Patrick (Pat) Doyle, (Rossduff, Aughnacliffe, (peacefully) at Cavan General Hospital - August 4, 2015. To his beloved wife Margaret, daughters, Geraldine, Regina, Rosemarie, Deirdre and Sheila, brother Monsignor Michael, sister Phyllis, brother-in-law Jonny O’Reilly, sons-in-law Michael and Séan and grandchildren, we offer our sincere condolences. May he rest in Peace.
Presentation and appreciation night in memory of Martin Cadden will be held in the Pikers Lodge, Lough Gowna on Friday, August 21st commencing at 10pm. The parishioners of St Thomas’s Church, Columbkille wish to thank those from the local community, past parishioners and family and friends who attended their open evening on Saturday, 26th July, to view the work in progress, which includes restoring/replacing the windows. Over 100 people visited and with the lovely weather on the evening they were able to enjoy tea/coffee, burgers and tray bakes in the grounds while chatting to those who attend St Thomas’s. The parishioners wish to say a big thank you for the voluntary donations on the evening of €861 which will be used towards the restoration work. Rev Hazel and the parishioners of St Thomas’s, Columbkille also wish to thank Frank Columb for attending the open evening, for researching and writing the history of their Church and for the framed history of the church which he presented to Rev Hazel Hicks, Priest-in-charge of the parish. They also wish to thank all who have organised and supported their fund raising events in recent years to raise money for the present work. When the restoration work is completed there will be a service of Dedication next year.
