Lough Rynn Festival
The 20th annual Lough Rynn Harvest Festival took place on Sunday last at the fabulous Lough Rynn Castle and again it was a resounding success, thanks to all who supported and to all who helped out to prepare for the festival to run it on the day and to do the tidy up on Monday.
We send our congratulations to our Polish friends, Lukasz and Anna Tymkow on the birth of their second baby, a girl, sister to Ethan, born on Wednesday last at Mullingar General hospital. We wish you health and happiness for the future.
Josie Martin Scholarship
Are you attending college this autumn? The Josie Martin scholarship is available through each Credit Union in Leitrim, to the value of €1000. Eligible applicants must have a Credit Union Account. An open draw will be held and one student from each Credit Union will win €1000. The scholarship will be available to full time first year students attending a recognised third level college and will be for one year only. Application forms available from Annaduff Credit Union & should be returned before 30th September.
We would like to send our condolences to Neil and Marie Cumiskey, Cloonturk on the death of Neil’s mother, Kitty Cumiskey, nee Whyte, Demesne Road, Dundalk who passed away peacefully on Saturday last at her home. Kitty was laid to rest in Kilcurry cemetery, Dundalk yesterday (Tuesday). May she rest in peace.

A note to hand from Yvonne McLoughlin regarding Kilglass/Tarmonbarry Scouts and it reads as follows: Expression of Interest night for Kilglass/Tarmonbarry Scouts takes place on Wednesday night 10th September 2014 at 7pm to 9pm at Kilglass GAA Clubhouse. This is an opportunity for the parents/guardians to register an interest in having their child involved in Kilglass/Tarmonbarry Scouts. Any adult wishing to become a leader is welcome to attend also. GAA 125th Anniversary
Bornacoola GAA 125th Anniversary 2014, this is the 125th anniversary of Bornacoola’s affiliation to the GAA. The club will be hosting a commemorative day on Saturday, September 27th which will include a special club mass and a get together in the Community Centre at which we will reflect on the clubs long and proud history. In the meantime, we are collecting any old memorabilia related to the club that may be out there and in particular items from the 1970s, 80s and the period around the 1940-50s. Badminton continues at Mohill Sports Complex tonight Wednesday and every Wednesday starting at 8pm. Newcomers are always welcome.
Seamus O’Rourke performs
Seamus O’Rourke will be performing on Saturday, 27th September in Fenagh Community Centre at 8:30pm with a play that has been written by Seamus O’Rourke called “ Padraig Potts Guide to walking”. We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the late Frank Costello, Knocklongford and late of Drumard Jones Mohill who passed away at Sligo General Hospital on Thursday last. Frank was laid to rest in Mohill cemetery on Saturday last. May he rest in peace.
It’s that time of year again now that September has arrived it’s time for the youth club fun and games to begin. This year we will be holding an information and registration evening on Friday the 12th of September at 7:30pm in the main hall of the community centre where we will showcase the work done by the youth club and the fun times and opportunities it gives to the young people of our parish. Refreshments will be available on the night and we will have our older members talk about the experiences opportunities and successes the youth club has given them to date and how much the club means to them. All new and old members are welcome to join this year. Registration will take place also. Registration costs 5 euro per child and is open to children from 2nd class up to leaving Cert.

All Ireland Golden Goal
With Donegal having joined Kerry in the 2014 All Ireland final and the club are once again running the Golden Goal competition in conjunction with the big game. The first prize of €500 will be paid to the person who purchases the ticket with the correct time in which the first goal will be scored in the Senior All Ireland football final on September 21st. Tickets are currently on sale from club members and in the Copper Still at €5 each for which you are randomly allocated four specific times. The more times you enter, the better chance you have of winning. Best of luck!

Set dancing classes start back for the winter in the Welcome Inn, Cornageeha on Tuesday night the 7 October at 9pm. Newcomers very welcome.
A big thank you to all who contributed to Leitrim Ladies GAA church gate collection at Bornacoola and Cloonturk churches on Saturday/Sunday last. The total collected was €428.50.
In a very entertaining match, Annaduff retained their Senior Championship status with a one point win over Melvin Gaels on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-13 in Drumshanbo on Sunday. Well done to Derek, Kevin, Terry and of course the players.
At the draw held in Cox’s Steakhouse Bar, Dromod, there was no Jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 5, 6, 14, 15. The 50 euro winner was Martin Harkin, Dromod. The 25 euro winners were John Byrne, Dromod; Aoife Fox, Tommy McLoughlin, Drumsna; Banana Gang, Dublin. The next draw takes place on Sunday night next in Taylor’s of Drumsna with a Jackpot of 7,900 euro.

Rooskey Active Retirement
Our next outing on Tuesday, 16 September will be to two nearby locations in Dublin, The National Botanic Gardens and Glasnevin Cemetery and new Museum. Guided tours in each venue. Coach will leave the Rooskey Centre at 9am. Booking non-refundable fee of €10 will be required to reserve your seat. No bookings taken after Tuesday 9 September. The total cost of the trip to include Bus, Dinner, Entry into Botanic Gardens and Glasnevin Museum is €50 to be paid no later than Friday 12 September. North Leitrim Glens run
North Leitrim Glens run is taking place this year on Saturday next the 13th September at 12 noon. As well as the usual 10km and half marathon routes, we will also be hosting a 5km family fun run/walk with the emphasis on fun. The 5km route is not timed or chipped and has a special family rate. This years event is in aid of the National Learning Network in memory of Sharon Loughlin.
