This year the weather was much more favourable for the Irish Cancer Daffodil Day fundraiser and local lady, Liz Murtagh would like to thank sincerely all that supported her sale of Daffodils. A total of €325 was raised and has been forwarded to the Charity.


Results of GAA Lotto draw held in Slowey’s on Monday, 14th April for a jackpot of €9,150. Numbers drawn were 6, 9, 15 and 26. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners were Carol Ward and Eileen Nulty, each €50. This week’s draw was held in The Hill Carrickboy on Tuesday night and results will be published next week.

Clothing Factory Reunion

Plans are underway for a re-union of all the people who worked in Ballymahon clothing factory, Claffey’s, Dubtex, Balman, Manford, and Manford direct. All past employees of these factories, together with their partners, families and friends are invited and anyone who would like to attend on the night. The venue is the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on this Friday, 25th April starting at 9pm. All are welcome to join in the fun. Music will be provided by very popular and various artists followed by a Disco with Michael Rooney. It promises to be a great night for all and with a chance for you to renew old acquaintances. There will be a raffle and spot prizes on the night. Donation bucket will be at the door and all proceeds will be donated to local charities.


The annual general meeting of Legan ICA was held at the April Guild meeting. After serving for three years, the positions of President and Secretary were becoming vacant. Outgoing treasurer Vera Flood decided she would stay on for another year. Mary Carthy will serve as President and Margaret McDonald Secretary for the next three years. There was a great attendance of new and potential new members. Kathleen Kelly, Federation Information Officer attended and spoke on the importance of Guild officers liaising with corresponding officers at Federation. A plan was put in place for the Autumn with classes in Social Dancing, Craft and Aqua Aerobics pencilled in. The next meeting will be held on Monday, 12th May at 8pm. Federation AGM takes place next Monday, April 28th in The Community Complex in Kenagh. Well done to our Table Quiz team who did us proud at the National finals in An Grianan recently.
