First up was when 3 girls were invited to play at half time during the Cavan v London Game on Saturday 27th July. The names were pulled out a hat and chosen were Leah Brady, Johanna Sheridan and Holly Lynch. Sitting in the Cusack stand the girls got a chance to meet, talk and get some photos taken together before going out onto the pitch. These were girls that had played against each other and it was a great opportunity to play together. Cavan dressed in black and green, (give respect, get respect) took to the field playing against girls from Dublin. For ten minutes the girls showed no nerves, great passing, lots of goals and points scored. A day they will never forget and hopefully not the last time they play in Croke Park. Then Arva were asked to send a representative to play on 29th July when Cavan played Kerry and this time the name drawn out was Kayla Brady but still the hurdle of being one of the ten to be picked from all the other names that were sent in from other clubs. It was with great joy that Kayla heard she was chosen to play at half time. Sitting in the Cusack stand among the boys that she had played against, taking to the field at half time in their black and white kit (give respect, get respect), there was great passing from Patrick McPhilips (Butlersbridge) and Kayla. The ten minutes went by too quickly. Kayla is still playing u12 this year and we wish her and her team mates every success for 2014. Following on from that the girls born in 2000 and 2001 were invited into Kingspan Breffni Park in September 2013 to try out for the Cavan girls u14 team. Holly Lynch, Emma Walch, Clare Scott and Leah Brady went from Arva to meet with other girls from all over the county. After months of training the panel started to be cut and matches arranged, on Saturday 2nd November a blitz in Tyrone playing against Tyrone, Fermanagh and Donegal, on Saturday 11th January 2014 a challenge match against Kildare in Meath Centre of Excellence on the Navan/Trim rd, after each more girls were been cut. Then on the 27th Jan the text came that Leah Brady was on the u14 Cavan panel for 2014. Wishing her and the u14 panel very success in 2014. Club Membership: is now due and should be paid to Cyril Sheridan, Club Treasurer or Arthur Mc Cabe, Assistant Treasurer. Arva get their Division 2 League campaign of the ground on Sunday next when they play Swanlinbar at 2 o’clock with the game probably played in Devlin Park, Killeshandra due to work ongoing in Michael Cully Park, Arva. The Reserve Team will play Ramor United at 3.30 pm and we urge all supporters to come out and cheer on the players.

Allianz League

Cavan continued their good form on Sunday last in the Division 3 Allianz League campaign when they defeated Offaly in O’Connor Park, Tullamore. Cavan were short 5 players from the game against Fermanagh but were still the more superior side showing the strength of depth in the panel. There was a rousing welcome for Gearóid Mc Kiernan, Swanlinbar when he came on in the second half after almost a year out through injury. Cavan travel to play Wexford in their next game on Sunday 9th March.
