World Wide Knit Day

The annual Federation gardening competition is now open for entries. The annual Craft Day takes place in Longford on 5 July, some guild members have volunteered to bake for this. Granard Agricultural Show takes place this year on 19 July, members and their friends are encouraged to support the show by entering crafts; produce or baking. More updates next week.

St. Mary’s GAA are holding a Monster Auction in Higginstown on this Sunday, 22 June to raise funds to help support all our teams from U8 to adult level. We are asking everyone to look around their house or property and see if there is anything they don’t want or need anymore. If you have any items please consider donating these items to our club and we will sell it at the auction to raise much needed funds to support our clubs activities. Living Links Cavan is holding an Ecumenical Service of Remembrance for family and friends bereaved by suicide on Sunday, 29 June 2014, at 3pm in St. Brigid’s Church, Killeshandra. Death by suicide is a tragedy for everyone concerned. The grief and sense of loss experienced can be overwhelming.
Walking continues as usual every Monday evening meeting at Higginstown Sports Complex at 7pm. A new route every Monday. New members welcome, young and old.

Beautiful jewellery to finish off that special outfit also shoes and sandals. Books are clearing at 50 cent each. Due to popular demand the shop is now open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10am to 5pm. All proceeds from the shop go directly and totally to projects within the community.
Congratulations to Cathal Twaddle, a popular teacher at Sacred Heart N.S. Granard who was successful in his bid to become one of the 32 escorts at the annual Rose of Tralee competition in August. The Longford native made it through the rigours of the Boot Camp for Escorts. We wish him every success in the competition, also when he will be entered in the special competition for Escort of the Year.
Pitch and Putt
Competitions continue on Wednesday evenings for all members – adults and juveniles. New beginners at 7.00pm. These competitions will continue for the rest of the Summer months - weather permitting.
