Bunlahy Defibrillator Fund
Bunlahy Area Action Group host a barbeque at Creegan’s pub, Bunlahy on Sunday, 29th June from 5.30pm. Entertainment from Rhythm and Sticks as part of Creegan’s Sunday sessions. All monies raised are for the purchase of defibrillators for the area. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Night at the Dogs
Fundraising night at Longford Dog Track for Scoil Samhthann N.S. on Friday, 20th June. The event is being run by the Board of Management. Tickets are on sale locally for €10.
GAA Cúl Camp
Dates for the annual Longford GAA summer camp are July 14th-18th. It consists of football, hurling, camogie and rounders. Camp prices: 1st child €55, 2nd €45 and 3rd/4th €40. Retirement
On Friday, 20th June, Garda Frank Reynolds will retire from the Gardaí after over 30 years service. A function to mark this occasion will take place that night on Friday, 20th June in Stags Head. All are invited. Music, refreshments on the night.
5K Fun Run/Walk
Granard Celtic F.C is holding a 5K Fun/Run/Walk/Jog Fundraiser on this Saturday, 21 June. Registration takes place at the Community Centre, Barrack Street, Granard from 10.30am to 11.30am. Elected
Congrats to PJ Hourican, formally Ballinascraw, who was elected to the Cork City South-west election area at the recent local elections. PJ left politics but returned after a ten year absence. He also served a term as Lord Mayor of Cork.
Death
Deepest sympathy to the family of the late Michael Hagan, formerly Hillside, Ballinalee who passed away recently.
Cemetery Sunday
This coming Sunday is Cemetery Sunday in both graveyards. Times: St. James’ 2pm, prayers and blessing of graves. St. Emer’s at 3pm: Prayers and blessing of graves. Please note no Mass in graveyard. Masses are at 7pm on Saturday in St. James’ and 11am Sunday in Holy Trinity Church. All grave owners are asked to please remove any old flowers or weeds from the graveyard when cleaning the family graves.
Collection
Church gate collection will take place at all masses this weekend for Ballinalee Social Services. Money raised will be used to help finance the annual outing for senior citizens. All contributions would be greatly appreciated.
Hillside Club
The club will meet today, Wednesday 18th June in the Stags Head. Dinner will be served.
Sympathy
Deepest sympathy to the Conlon family, Drumnacross on the recent death of Tony Conlon. RIP
Birthday greetings
Birthday greetings to Fintan Fox, Soran, who recently celebrated his 40th with a surprise party in the Stags Head. A good night was had by all.
