Coffee morning

A St Vincent de Paul coffee morning will be held in Ennybegs Community Centre, Killoe on Sunday, December 8, 2013 after 11am Mass in aid of Bethany House, a St Vincent de Paul Longford project hostel that provides emergency accommodation and support to women and children who become homeless due to domestic violence or other life crisis. Due to increased need money donations are most valuable , also clothes, toys non-perishable foods, vouchers unwanted gifts etc. A list of people wishing to donate any fuel will be taken on the day as due to storage issues arrangement for a later pick up. Should you be unable to call on the day and wish to donate please contact or text 086 8100518. Also an event in aid of St Vincent de Paul Granard will be held in Thomas Ashe Hall, Ballinalee on Sunday, December 8, 2013 after 11am Mass with the same principal as above. In grateful appreciation to everyone’s generosity as due to funding cuts by 40,000 euro every little helps.


Congratulations to Ryan Murray, son of Kevin and Lorraine, Aughaboy, Killoe, who with the aid of family and friends celebrated that big musical key to any door birthday last week. The parish extend good wishes to Ryan and his family for a great Sagittarius future filled with good health, happiness. Happy 21st Ryan !

Church notes

St Mary’s Ennybegs Masses Wednesday/ Thursday at 10am, Friday 10am (First Fridays) Exposition blessed sacrament both churches Wednesdays 6- 9pm. First Fridays Holy Communion Calls Thursday/ Friday in usual order. Thank you to everyone who distributed envelope boxes and congregation who support collections. Collectors December Saturday – PJ McManus/ John Doris, Sunday Declan Rowley/ Terry McCormack. Fr Casey expresses his gratitude for prayers in support and strength to himself and the bereaved families and the community at large entrust continued prayers for God’s gift of strength to Fr Casey and the bereaved families. St Olivers Cullyfad mass Friday at 7.30pm Joan Brady (nee Carolan) formerly Kellether Killoe and late of Ballinalee RIP.

Parish Child protection

A meeting re parish child protection was attended by Fr Sean and parish child safeguarding representatives Mrs Una Bratten/ Mrs Mary Burns last week. Any safe guarding issues may be reported to Una 087 2695808/ Mary 086 2711254.


Emmet Og GFC Killoe Christmas draw ticket now on sale at all local outlets, committee members with handsome prizes in the offering. Cost 10 euro with draw being held on Saturday 28 December 2013 in the Olde Forge, Killoe just in time to put a rattle in your New Year pocket. All support greatly appreciated.


The Emmet Og Killoe minor club are holding their AGM on Friday December 6, 2013 at 9pm in St Theresa’s National School Killoe. All members are requested to attend and new members are very welcome.


The annual mass for deceased Killoe pioneers will be offered in St Mary’s Church, Ennybegs, Killoe on Sunday, December 8 at 11am.

Community Games

Draughts training continues on Thursday nights from 7pm until 8pm in Cullyfad Community Centre. Under 15 Badminton training will be held on Fridays from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in Drumlish Community Centre. All welcome. Table Tennis will be starting over the next number of weeks. Those Under 13 Boys and Under 13 Girls who are interested should test Mary on 086 1219281 by December the 10th. Both Turlough Farrelly and Patricia Feeney are receiving awards at County Longford Community Games First Annual Awards Ceremony in Rawles in Ballinalee on Saturday, 7th of December at 9.30pm. We would appreciate a good turnout n support of thee worthy award recipients. Training for Basketball Under 11 mixed will be held on Tuesdays from 6.30 to 7.30pm in Drumlish Community Centre.
