Our Roots in Stone
All are welcome to the launch of Luke Baxter’s “Our Roots in Stone” at 9pm this Friday, 6th December in Lyons Red Pub. “Our Roots in Stone”, published by Luke Baxter in association with Ardagh Tidy Towns Committee, documents the gravestones and memorials in the lower churchyard (opposite the community centre) and in St. Patrick’s Church of Ireland churchyard, both of which were the burial grounds for the people of Ardagh prior to the establishment of Ardagh Cemetery at St Brigid’s Church in 1906. The book will be launched by Irish Times political editor, Stephen Collins, whose mother May Farrell is a native of Graffogue.

Life Time Membership
In recognition of our success this year in winning the Intermediate Championship and to go towards the completion of our Parish Walkway, the club is now offering the opportunity to become a Life Time Member of St Patrick’s. Life Time Membership will mean that you are a member of the club for the rest of your life and will never pay an annual membership fee. Life Time members will be permanently recognised on a plaque at Keenan Park and will also be entitled to attend all club meetings and AGMs. Life Time members will also be entered into a draw for All Ireland Football and Hurling Final tickets every year. Funds raised from this initiative will go toward the completion of our Parish Walkway which is now under construction at our grounds. The Walkway will be for the benefit of all the community in Ardagh and will be open to everyone in our village and surrounding areas. So in addition to becoming a Life Time member of our GAA club your contribution will also benefit the community as a whole in Ardagh for many generations to come. The last time Life Time Membership was offered was in 1980 when, in tough times, many members of the community dug deep to ensure St Patrick’s had its own pitch to play on after 90 years of depending on the generosity of local farmers in kindly lending the club a field to play on - the club is still very grateful to them. And now, 34 years later, this opportunity has come around again. Perhaps you would consider becoming a Life Time Member of Ardagh St Patrick’s? Or perhaps gifting Life Time Membership to a loved one or family member at this Christmas time? Life Time Membership is priced at €200 per individual membership and this offer will be open for a limited period only. All Life Time Members will receive a Permanent Certificate of Life Time Membership of St Patrick’s GAA Club for your records or for display or as a gift to pass on. Life Time Membership can be purchased for yourself or for another individual. If you would like more information please contact Declan Kenny, Chairman (087 2995920), Mary O’Brien, Secretary (087 2718154), Imelda Keenan, Treasurer (086 3825449) or Martin Keane, Treasurer (087 9976899).
