Minor club

Training commences for U8/U10 at Clonee grounds on Friday, 11 April from 7-8pm. Registration cost 15 euro per child. Parents who are willing to help are most welcome to come along. A fundraising clothing and textile recycling collection for the minor club will be held on Saturday, 3 May in Clonee, also. Mobile phones, unwanted books. So get your glad rags together and if anyone wants to leave bags in with Ann Hughes’ shop you are free to do so.

London marathon

The parish extend good luck to Michelle Connell, daughter of Michael and Margaret, Esker South who will be participating in the London marathon on Sunday, 13 April. All sponsorship is in aid of the Marie Keating Cancer Foundation. Well done Michelle.

Chernobyl orphanage

The time is nearing for Emily and Asling Hughes, Farragh, Killoe to venture on their trip to the orphanage in Bellarus, home to 130 children and young adults. Any donations of warm hat, scarves, gloves or socks ,personal cd players, small toys would be most welcome. Collection outlets Ann Hughes’ shop, Begleys pub, the Olde Forge. Sponsorship cards also available to help raise funds for medical supplies or tel 085 7514551. We wish the girls a safe journey and good luck on their venture and also in the mini marathon later in the year.

Killoe old graveyard

A meeting will be held in Cullyfad Community Centre on Thursday, 10 April at 8.30pm re Killoe old graveyard. Everyone is welcome to attend. Some headstones and crosses were damaged during the stormy weather in the graveyard and may require repairs. We would advise people to visit the cemetery and check their headstones or telephone any committee member 087 9268585.

Church news

St Mary’s Ennybegs Masses Wednesday/ Thursday/ Friday at 10am. Parish pastoral council meeting Thursday 10 April 2014 at 9pm in presbytery. All members please attend. “Do this in memory” Mass Sunday 13 April 2014 at 11am.

Community Games

We would like to congratulate Martina Reynolds on her new position as Chairperson of Killoe Community Games. All involved wish Martina the best in her role. Well done to all of the children that took part in the Cross Country that took place in Ballymahon on Friday last. The outdoor soccer finals will be held on Saturday, 12th of April in Abbycartron. We wish all the participating teams the best of luck. The Sports Day has been provisionally booked for Saturday, May 3rd. Details of this day will be announced when they are confirmed.
