An information stand will be available in the Longford library on Tuesday 26 November 2013 from 11am – 1pm. Work 4 you set up by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland provides a free vocational assessment service for individuals who have an acquired brain injury and would like assistance and guidance in returning to work,training or education. This is a free service to anyone with an acquired brain injury and in receipt of a payment from Dept of Social Protection. All are very welcome, refreshments will be provided. Sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs Kathleen Conroy, (nee Gray) and families, USA (formerly Drumlish), Bridie Gray and families, Ennybegs, Killoe, Gray families, Drumlish on the sad bereavement of Kathleen’s sister, Mary Quinney, (nee Gray, Drumlish), (and predeceased by her brothers Tommy, Bertie, Christy, Jimmy), who was laid to rest last week. The parish extend condolence to her sister Kathleen, sisters in law, nieces, nephews extended families, neighbours, friends. Requiem mass was celebrated in St Marys Church Drumlish with burial in Drumlish cemetery. May she rest in peace.

St Mary’s Ennybegs choir will commence practice on Thursday 21 November 2013 at 8pm in St Mary’s Church. All former members and new members requested to attend and it is hoped the choir will commence on Sunday November 24 at 11am Mass.


Cilloe Yew Tree players production “A Stolen Child” directed by Mickey Kenny will go on stage in Ennybegs Community Centre Killoe from Saturday 30 November Sunday December 1, Monday December 2 2013. Community Games

Congratulations to County Longford Community Games on being awarded Club of the Year at the Longford Sports Partnerships Awards on Saturday last. Congratulations also to the Boys Relay Team who won Junior Team of the Year and to Paddy McPhillips in receiving the Adult Volunteering Award. Draughts got off to a great start in Cullyfad last Thursday, with a great turnout of children of all ages. Well done to Martina Reynolds and Ray Murphy who are managing these teams. (Proposed County Final date 18 January, subject to change). Basketball for U11 mixed will resume in the coming weeks. Thank you to Yvonne Prendergast and Jack O’Driscoll who will be managing the teams. Simon Kiernan has agreed to manage the Boys and Girls U13 Teams for Basketball. (Proposed County Final date 15/16 February, subject to change). Indoor Soccer will also resume over the coming weeks and we would like to thank Brian Finneran and Davis Donnelly, Kevin Dooner, John Hughes and Paul McCarthy for agreeing to manage these teams. (Proposed County Final date 8/9 February, subject the change.) The proposed County Final date for the quiz is 13 January and we would like to thank Mrs Rosemary Kiernan and Miss Carol Chapman for agreeing to manage these teams again. One of the first competitions we will see taking place this year is Badminton. Having won the County Final last year, we look forward to Grainne Gormley managing these teams once again. Art will again be managed by Patricia Feeney and with competitors getting to the National Final last year, we look forward to another very successful year. We are delighted to announce that we will have a debating team this year, managed by Miss Emer McCabe and look forward to this completion. Futsal will take place again this year. Larry and Mark are doing their Leaving Certificate and will be unable to manage the team again, so we are delighted to announce the new manager Mark Leonard. Talent again will be managed by Miss Grainne Fox and we look forward to this competition. The proposed County Final date for handwriting is the 15th of March and Maureen Eivers will manage this competition. Killoe Community Games encourage participation at all levels and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the children and their parents for their support. All Roads lead to Derry, as will be the case on Saturday for the National Community Games Participation Awards. The bus leaves at 1pm from outside the Community Centre. We would like to congratulate Turlough Farrelly who represents Longford as the Adult Volunteer nominee. Killoe Community Games are also representing Longford in the National Participation Award.
