Householders in and Castlepollard and North Westmeath are urged to remain cautious with dealing with door to door callers offering goods or services at unrealistically low prices. Similarly be wary of callers askng for personal details of yourself or friends, neighbours etc., such as when someone is likely to be home, where they work, where children go to school. such seemingly innocent enquiries can enable criminals to get a very accurate picture as to when houses are likely to be unoccupied, what items of value may be in their homes etc. Contact the Gardai immediately if approached by any suspicious callers, and make of a note of any vehicles which seem out of place.
