Congratulations and best wishes to Aughakilmore and Edgeworthstown man Frank Kilbride who will launch his own TV show on Sky Channel 191 on Thursday October 3rd at 7pm and the show will be repeated on Sunday evenings at 6pm and Monday afternoons at 2pm. No doubt Frank will feature all the local artists along with the more established ones. All will be looking forward to watching the local man on Sky.

Schools reopen

Over the past week all our schools re-opened and the following children started out on their education journey for the first time. In St Gusacht’s in Bunlahy - Conor O’Hara, Corey Sammon, Niall O’Donnell, Joe Cadam and Saidbh Flynn while in St. Patrick’s in Killeen - Aaoron Dempsey, Chole Kiernan, Cadhlagh Browne, Jessica Mullen, Cleona O’Hara and Ronan O’Hara, so we join with their parents and teachers in wishing them the very best and remember your schooldays are your best days.

Sincere congratulations and good wishes for continued good health to Mrs. Katie Brennan, Cartronmarkey, who celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday last September 8th with a party for extended family and friends in the community Hall in Ballinalee where her son, Canon Brian is Parish Priest. We understand that Mrs Brennan is really looking forward to spending the Presidents cheque and we hope she has many more happy and healthy years.

The winner of one of the prizes of one hundred euro in the Ballymore draw last month was Dinah Dempsey, Lisratigan, Coolarty and not Donal Dempsey as stated in last weeks notes. Happy spending Dinah.

GMCE – Proposed purchase of NAMA property. A public meeting to discuss progress to date will take place on Tuesday next, Sept 17th, at8.30pm in the Community Centre, Barrack St. Much progress has recently been made and we are on track to develop a visitor centre which we can all be proud of and which will, over time, help create employment, both direct and indirect.

This will also be our first meeting since we held the “Granada Reunion Festival Weekend”, so a full report on this event will also be given.
