All proceeds to the Players Injury Fund. League: On Friday evening last the Arva v Maghera game in the Brady’s Arva Division 3 League was cancelled with Arva receiving the points. This puts Arva into top place on the league table (29 points) with a game in hand as Kill (26 points) defeated Ballymachugh (28 points). Arva need to win their remaining 4 games to be sure of promotion and any slip up could prove costly. They will play Templeport in St Aiden’s Park, Bawnboy on Saturday week. Championship: On Sunday next Arva will take on neighbours Cornafean in the Semi-Final of the Hotel Kilmore Junior Football Championship at 3.30 pm in Kingspan Breffni Park. This should be an exciting encounter as local rivalry always adds to a game. Cornafean operate in Division 2 of the League and the fact that Arva surprised them in the championship a couple of years ago will give them an advantage but hopefully Arva can continue on their recent good form. We look forward to a good game and may the best team win.

There was much sadness in the area with news of the recent death of Mr Padraig Halton, Rathoath and formerly from Lough Gowna. Padraig played most – if not all - of his football with Arva and is fondly remembered for scoring a great goal in the 1972 Intermediate Championship Final in Kingspan Breffni Park in which Arva were victorious. He never lost touch with his former teammates and was a member of the Arva GAA Golf Society which holds a number of outings each year. On behalf of the community we extend sincere sympathy to his wife Margaret and 3 daughters, to his mother, brother, sisters and extended family. As a mark of respect a minutes silence was observed before the Arva v Knockbride game played in Arva.
