HELIUM 2011 IS ALMOST HERE:
There’s a great buzz among the young people in the area in the last few weeks in anticipation of this coming weekend’s third Helium Music festival. Over 30 different groups will perform on the three stages at Skelly’s Main Street on Saturday 11th June with the gates opening at 2pm. Proceeds from the concert go towards the Freidriechs Ataxia Society of Ireland, a cause close to our hearts here in Balymahon.Great credit is due to the hard-working committee,volunteers and sponsors who give freely of their time ad energy to make this event a success. We hope all goes well for you at the weekend.
100TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
Congratulations to Mrs Bea McGarry,Barry who celebrated her 100th birthday recently with her family and many friends in Cooney’s Hotel. Bea is a former publican in Barry where she ran a very successful business for many years. We wish her good health in the future.

DEATH OF RICHARD MOFFIT
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Paul Moffit and his sister Sharon formerly of Main Street Ballymahon whose uncle Robert Moffit died recently in Brisbane, Australia. We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Robert Allen and his wife Susan (Bredin) Cloncallow on the death last week of Robert’s mother Mrs Frances Allen (nee Goodwin) Coolbanagher Emo Co Laois after a long illness. Frances who is predeceased by her husband William is also survived by her daughter Verna ,sons Nigel Richard and Gordon, grandchildren daughters in law, son in law, sisters , brothers relatives and friends to whom we also extend our deepest sympathy. May she rest in peace.

It was with deep regret that we learnt of the peaceful death on May 30th last of Mr John McGrath Park Place Colehill at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home Ballymahon. John who was 87 years old when he passed away , was a warm friendly gentleman who was a frequent visitor to Ballymahon for a long number of years and a former player with Ballymahon GAA Club. He will be sadly missed by his family and wide circle of friends. We extend our sincere sympathy to John’s wife Mary, sons Frank and James daughters Elizabeth and Rita, sister Nan, daughter in law Amanda brother in law grandchildren , relatives and friends.
