The Parents Association of Sacred Heart N.S. Granard are holding a Table Quiz fundraising night in Fay’s Bar Granard on Friday 10 June at 9.00pm. Your support will be appreciated.


This year is a very special occasion for Rath Mhuire Resource Centre as it marks the 25th anniversary of the Centre. On Saturday 25 June there will be a celebration Mass in the Community Centre. Anyone who would like to attend please contact Jackie or Lucy at 043-6686309 for further details.


Granard guild held their final meeting before the Summer recess on Thursday 2 June. The guest speaker was Bridget Coston from the Co. Longford Bee-Keepers Association who gave a most interesting and informative talk. Monika Larenz the President of the Guild wished the members a pleasant break and looks forward to seeing old and new members back in September. Supper was served by the committee members.


In aid of the Alzheimer’s Association is taking place in the Cavan Crystal Hotel on 16 June at 8pm featuring professional models all styled by Maria Fusco Ireland’s Top Stylist. For tickets contact Yvonne on 049 4371975 or De Havalland Model Management on 01 6390300. On the night there will be special spot prizes and a luxury get away break for the best dressed lady.


The annual Co. Longford garden competitions include Flower Garden Competition open to ICA members only. Vegetable Garden Competition: Open to all gardeners, male and female in Co.Longford. The Children’s Section: A small plot of either vegetables or flowers. Open to all children in Co. Longford. Adjudication will take place towards the end of July to early August. Bingo takes place each Wednesday night at 9.00pm in the Community Centre Granard. The Jackpot is now at €8000. Proceeds from the night go to Abbeylara and Granard GAA clubs. Your continued support is appreciated.


The annual Field Day takes place on Sunday 12 June in Abbeylara. Various events including Tractor Pulling. Truck Pulling Demonstration; Vintage Parade and Display of Cars Tractors and Motor Bikes. The Midget Car Racing Championship in association with Motor Sport Ireland will also be held on the day this sport has not been in the Midlands in the past 25 years. Fun Fair and much more including many family activities. With your support this will be the best field day ever. See posters for full details. Proceeds in aid of the new Parish Centre. A new computer skills class is starting in Granard Branch Library on Wednesday 15 June. This course will cover Uploading photos; file management; internet banking; Motor Tax; Skype; Touch-Typing; Word and Excel 2007;Facebook; Twitter and first time introduction to a computer. Congratulations to Cliadhna Sheridan Granard and Brian Gibson Edgeworthstown who were married recently in Italy. We wish them every success and happiness for the future.


Sympathy is extended to Marie Dalton and family Dalystown Granard on the death of her sister Nuala Brady Ballinagh last week. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy is extended to Dympna Kiernan and family Leitrim Coolarty on the death of her father Patrick Brady Edenmore Ballinamuck who died last week end Burial took place on Sunday. May he rest in peace.


Bake Sale: Please support this fund raiser which is being organised by our young women’s group. They will appreciate donations of home baking and purchases on the day. It will be held on Sunday 19June from 10 pm – 1pm in Lus na Gréine.

Students: The Centre wishes you all the best of luck in your forthcoming exams. Please feel free to drop into the Centre if you feel like chilling out during those hectic days where there is always a welcome.
