DEATH: Death of Mrs Margaret Halton. It was with deep regret that we learnt of the death of Mrs Margaret (Maggie May) Halton Corfree Loch Gowna on Friday 6th July at Cavan General Hospital.

DEATH: Death of Mrs Margaret Halton. It was with deep regret that we learnt of the death of Mrs Margaret (Maggie May) Halton Corfree Loch Gowna on Friday 6th July at Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband Larry in 1987 Margaret had been for many years in the care of the staff of College View Nursing Home Cavan. When in good health she always enjoyed a game of bingo and helping out on the farm. She will be sadly missed by her sons Cathal Patsy Lorcan and Kevin, daughter Breda ,brother John, sister in law daughters in law grandchildren and great grandchildren relatives and friends to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. Her remains were removed from Finegans Funeral Home Cavan on Tuesday evening to the Church of Holy Family Loch Gowna and following requiem Mass on Wednesday morning at 11a burial took place in the local cemetery. May she rest in peace.

BLUEGRASS: Europe’s no 1 Bluegrass band 4 Wheel Drive will perform in the Pikers Lodge Hotel this Wednesday night 18th July.Show will start at 9.30pm. Admission 10 euro.

CREDIT UNION SUB OFFICE: Loch Gowna Credit Union sub office open for business every Saturday evening from 6 – 7.30pm in St Brigids Community Centre until further notice.

THANKS: Catherine Keogh Corfree would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported and helped in any way the recent coffee morning held in aid of Alzheimers in St Brigids Community Centre . A total of 350 euro was raised.

BENEFIT DANCE: Benfit dance in aid of the family of the late Dermot Harte Carrigallen will take place on Friday night 20th July in the Kilbracken Arms Hotel. Dermot died as a result of a traffic accident. Music on the night will be provided by Night Fever,Evening Star and Noel Cassidy. Doors open 9pm. Admission optional on the night. Anyone who wishes to give a donation can contact committee members Michael Doherty on 086 0502467 or Dessie Connell on 086 3204838.

CONDOLENCE: Sympathy is extended to Mrs Valerie Brady and family Carricknabrick Loughduff on the sudden death of her husband John which occurred at Cavan General on Monday 9th July. May he rest in peace.

WEDDING BELLS: Congratulations to Sean Hughes Loch Gowna village and Linda Coyne Tulllamore Co Offaly who were united in the ceremony of matrimony in St Colmcilles Church Durrrow Tullamore on Thursday 28 June. To celebrate the occasion a very enjoyable reception was held in Kinnity castle Birr Co Offaly. We wish Sean and Linda many years of good health and happiness in their married life together.

CEMETeRY SUNDAY: Loch Gowna/Mullinalaghta blessing of the graves will take place in the Corfree Road Cemetery on Sunday 29th July. Mass will be celebrated in the cemetery at 11am weather permitting Sunday 5th August in the cemetery beside the church following 11am Mass. Mullinalaghta cemetery on Saturday evening 28th July. Mass will be celebrated in the cemetery at 7pm followed by blessing of the graves weather permitting.
