As usual last Thursday the county council workers arrived in Lanesboro to carry out their usual duties and shortly after their arrival they became aware of a swan in distress on the middle of the road in the vicinity of the church. The two men Hughie Keenan and Paul Menton quickly made their way to the stricken swan and quickly gathered the bird who was in deep distress. The men brought the bird back to the harbour behind the car park and released it where it took the swan a few minutes to regain its composure before flying out onto the lake. Both men must be complimented for their quick reaction and rescuing the swan and they began the day with a good deed.
