Dromod January 14

Yes folks, you guessed it. After the success of last year's first Dromod Family Festival we'd be mad not to do it all again. Dromod Development has elected a new Festival Committee with a mix of old and new faces, not only to repeat last year's success but to bring new ideas to the day. The date has been set for Sunday 1st May and once again Noreen Diffley has kindly agreed to let us use her field.

The Order of Malta has been put on standby for the Annaduff Vs Bornacoola over 40s rematch and this year you'll see the under 10s set the standard beforehand. Back in the village there will be a larger marquee where we plan to add demonstrations of local produce, crafts and traditions. As before we're planning traditional Irish music and dancing, kids art competition, face painting, cake sale, refreshments and a sponsored prize raffle. In addition to last year's rodeo bull, bouncy castle, assault course and super slide, we've added a bungee run and the chance to guess the weight of a live bull. And, in the tradition of bringing you the first, you'll also witness Dromod's first Dog Show. So get those dogs shampooed, trained and on a lead.

The Festival Committee is still very interested to hear from any individuals, groups or organisations who could further add to the success of the day. Please contact us on dromoddevelopment@hotmail.com or by phone on 0877434357.

As before we'll be starting our fundraising in the coming weeks and hope that we can get the same generosity and support as we did last year.

A festival launch night is planned for the Brandy Well on Saturday 26th Feb with live music and a technical analysis of last year's over 40s football match! All are welcome.

We look forward to your support and will keep you updated.

We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Lily Leydon nee Shanley formerly from Station House, Dromod who died recently in New Jersey U.S.A.. May she Rest in Peace.
