Funding for Longford's Backstage Theatre and Cruthú

Longford's Backstage Theatre to receive €150k from Arts Council

Backstage Theatre in Longford has been awarded a share of funding announced by Arts Minister Catherine Martin

Longford's Backstage Theatre has been awarded a share of funding announced by Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin.

Minister Martin announced capital grants of almost €538,284 for twenty-five arts and culture organisations to upgrade and develop their facilities.

One of the biggest awards in this round of funding went to Longford's Backstage Theatre receiving €45,145.   

This funding is provided under Stream A of the Cultural Capital Scheme 2019-2022, which offers grants of up to €50,000. It is part of an overall €4.7m capital investment scheme in artistic and cultural institutions around the country. 

Meanwhile, the Longford Cruthú Arts Festival has been allocated €7,000 by the Arts Council in the second round of applications from the Festival Investment Scheme for 2022.

The two rounds of the Festival Investment Scheme saw the most significant investment in Festivals of €2,188,176 for 137 festivals taking place in 2022.
