Longford Co Library is the venue on Monday for a lecture on Ireland's Dáil Courts from 1920-22
Longford County Library, Heritage and Archives Services will host a lecture on the Dáil Courts, 1920-22, in Longford library on Monday, February 21 at 7 pm.
The speaker, Dr Heather Laird, is a native of Leitrim and a lecturer in the English Department in University College Cork.
Dáil Éireann established a courts system in 1920 with the aim of replacing the courts run by the British.
There were different levels within the system, with the parish court being the basic one.
The courts were generally very successful and were only wound up in 1922.
The lecture is an event of the Decade of Centenaries Programme and all are welcome to attend.
