Members of Longford IFA elected a new chairperson of the organisation at the recent AGM held at the Longford Arms Hotel Tuesday, Feb 19.
The member to take on the new role is local farmer and former Vice chairperson of Longford IFA, Mr Gavin White. The other position filled on the night was that of Vice Chairperson and this position was taken on by John O’Hanlon.
The newly elected chairperson is a contractor, sheep and suckler farmer and says his door is open for any Longford farmers and IFA members with any issues.
“I will represent the farmers in Longford IFA as best I can, both in Longford and in Dublin,” Gavin said.
Gavin noted that the biggest issues with members of Longford IFA at the moment is beef prices and the difficulty in getting factories to slaughter bulls, especially those under 24-months old.
