Longford students Jade Gill and Eimear Kyle were among the 125 awarded a 2018 All Ireland Scholarship recently, granting them full academic financial support for the duration of their third level studies by sponsor, JP McManus.
Jade, from Meán Scoil Mhuire, Longford town, and Eimear, who attended St Finian’s College in Mullingar but lives in Stonepark, Co Longford, were commended for their achievements at a ceremony in University of Limerick by guest of honour, Limerick senior hurling manager John Kiely.
Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD and the Permanent Secretary at the Department for the Economy, Northern Ireland, Noel Lavery presented the scholarship certificates to the students.
Established in 2008, the scholarships are valued at €6,750 per annum and continue for the duration of the undergraduate programme chosen by each scholarship winner.
To date, 1,371 students have been awarded an All Ireland Scholarship.
