A man charged with two public order offences following an incident at Longford Train Station in the lead up to Christmas last year is to contest both charges.

Declan Lynch, of 35 Ardleigh Vale, Mullingar, was charged with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour under Section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994.

A second charge relating to failing to comply with the directions of a garda in accordance with Section 8 of the same Act was also issued.

Defence solicitor Frank Gearty said his client intended to plead not guilty to the charges and applied for a hearing date.

“He (Mr Lynch) has given me a few names of people to summons and I will do that for him,” said Mr Gearty.

The case, as a result, was adjourned until March 6 with Mr Duignan remanded on continuing bail.
