Cllr Micheál Carrigy says Longford has a great tourism product

During last week’s Granard Municipal District Budget meeting, Cllr Micheal Carrigy (FG) welcomed the increase in discretionary funding for 2018.

He also pointed to the “wonderful” tourism product that Co Longford had and said all that needed to be done now was to market the county.

“We have a responsibility here in Longford to push our product in relation to the Lakelands initiative,” he added.

“We have wonderful things to offer any tourism who comes here and it is up to us to ensure that everyone knows about what we have.”

The local area representative in Ballinalee also pointed to the increase in the budget allocation for 2018.

“This proves that the increase in the Local Property Tax (LPT) will go directly back into our communities and overall the funding is a good spread across the county.”
