RIP: Longford mourns passing of lovely lady and great conversationalist who was in her 94th year

The Late Mary Mulligan (née Mulligan), Breaghy, Edgeworthstown, Longford

It is with much sadness and genuine regret that we record the death of Mrs Mary Mulligan of Breaghy, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford which occurred in Mullingar General Hospital on Thursday, April 9 following a short illness.

Mrs Mulligan was predeceased by her husband Jimmy, infant daughter Eibhlin, son Gerry and daughter Siobhan Dorman.

Mary was in her 94th year and had been in her usual good health up to a few days before her peaceful death.

Mary was a lovely kind lady who it was always a joy to have a chat with and her warm genuine welcome to anyone who called to her home will be remembered by many.

She was a great conversationalist and made sure to keep herself up to date with both local and national affairs and loved using her little laptop which she said kept her going through good and bad times.

A lady of deep faith Mary attended Mass in Clonbroney Church on a very regular basis and also in Ballinalee and she tuned into Mass everyday and this helped her to accept as God's will whatever crosses came her way.

Family was so important to Mrs Mulligan and she was, in a lovely humble way, so proud of all their achievements and loved talking of her fourteen grandchildren and indeed her two great grandchildren.

Mary's remains reposed in Glennon's funeral home on Saturday evening and her funeral Mass was celebrated in St James's Church in Clonbroney on Sunday at 2pm and both occasions were attended by large crowds of sympathisers and she was laid to rest in the family plot in the local cemetery.

We offer sincere sympathy to her daughters Evelyn and Mairead, sons Pat, Seamus, Hugh, Tom, Enda and Dermot and extended family. May she rest in peace.
