The grand marshal for this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in Longford town has been announced.
Michael Keenan, Chairperson of Longford Tidy Towns and a man described by Longford County Council as “one of the county’s most quietly effective community figures”, is set to lead the parade through the town on Tuesday March 17 at 1pm.
With over 40 floats taking part, the St Patrick’s Day parade promises to be a lively mix of music, and community entertainment.

The 2026 theme for the St Patrick’s Day parade is, ‘Amuigh Faoin Spéir’, meaning, ‘Out in the Open’, which celebrates creativity, community spirit, and the pleasure of coming together under the open sky.
A new sensory viewing area will also be available on Bridge Street, above the Computer Clinic, where a full view of the parade can be enjoyed. A wheelchair area will also be provided at Centenary Square.
The parade is funded by Longford Municipal District of Longford County Council and organised by the Local Enterprise Office Longford
