A group of enterprising Longford students have designed and manufactured a product that makes it much easier to manually screw in electric fence insulators into timber posts.

The students from Moyne Community School and under the guidance of TY Enterprise Teacher Padraig Doherty have come up with a product called ‘The Twister’ and it will certainly be of immense assistance to farmers who are tired of getting sore hands from screwing in electric fence insulators.

'The Twister'
‘The Twister’ is a 3D-printed, easy to grip product that fits snuggly over the top of the insulator and enables the user to screw in the insulator manually, with less effort and strain.

The students in the group are Sophia Dow, Mimi Keller, Paddy Casey, Bonnie Nolan and Molly Sherwood.

They will be representing Moyne CS in the county final of the Longford LEO Student Enterprise Awards in the Longford Arms Hotel on Wednesday, March 11.
