‘Heartening to see dedication and drive’ of Longford workers recognised at national level
Longford County Council was shortlisted as a finalist in the CIPD Ireland HR Awards 2026, under the Learning and Development Initiative – Public category.
The Council is especially proud to be the only Local Authority in Ireland shortlisted for any category in this year’s awards — a significant achievement that reflects the organisation’s ambition, innovation, and commitment to its people.

The CIPD Ireland HR Awards recognise excellence in human resources practice across the public, private, and voluntary sectors. Longford County Council’s shortlisting highlights the strength and impact of its Learning and Development initiatives, and underscores the organisation’s ongoing dedication to building capability, supporting staff development, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
The Council is also honoured to be shortlisted alongside leading national organisations in its category, including the Department of Transport, Enterprise Ireland, ESB, Uisce Éireann, and Bus Éireann.

Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Cllr Garry Murtagh said, “This shortlisting reflects our commitment to supporting staff so they can give their best to the people of Longford.
