Over 660 families on the housing waiting list in county Longford
There are currently 665 families on the housing list in county Longford, including 325 households without social housing support.
The details were announced at the recent monthly meeting of Granard Municipal District by Director of Services Barbara Heslin, who delivered a presentation to councillors.

"The current number of local authority housing stock across the county is 2,248 which would be the highest per capita in the country," she added.
There were 661 families on the social housing waiting list in county Longford in April 2024, which included 300 households without social housing support.
Last March, there were 53 council houses lying vacant in county Longford with Fine Gael Cllr Peggy Nolan critical of the situation.

Ms Heslin also said information in relation to grants such as the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS), the Historic Structure Fund (HSF) and the Community Monuments Fund (CMF) has also been updated and circulated to people.
