Following the very sudden and sad passing of Jeaffrey McGann, Mullingar and formerly The Green, Lanesboro on October 28, 2025, a 5 a side soccer tournament was held in his memory and to raise funds for The Irish Heart Foundation on Saturday, December 27 at the Astro Turf pitch in Lanesboro Community College.

As an avid five a side player until his untimely passing it is fitting that such an event was organised by Jeaff's many friends in BallyBoro FC (formally Boro Celtic) and his work colleagues in James Irwin Construction (JIC).

The event was a huge success with the maximum of sixteen teams accommodated to take part on a bright, sunny day in Lanesboro and the large crowd in attendance were treated to some great skills and fun on display including penalty shootout results.

The Final was contested by 'United 99' and 'The Town 04' with 'United 99' emerging as winners on a 2-1 scoreline.

Well done to the organisers, all the players and the large crowd of people who came out to support this worthy cause.
