Three Longford projects are to receive €658,517 in funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS).
Funding of €26 million for 116 projects in rural communities across the country was announced on Monday, December 22, by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD.
Of the Longford allocation, €500,000 will go towards the further development of the People's Park in Longford town with a car park and EV bays on the Park Road.

There is also funding for two Lanesboro projects, €109,017 for the Sensory Garden and Incubation Hub, along with €49,500 towards the preparation and submission of a planning application for the Lanesboro Eco Activity Park.
Welcoming the funding, Deputy Micheál Carrigy said, “This is a major win for Longford with three projects receiving substantial funding to rejuvenate spaces which are accessible to all. It is greatly welcomed and will benefit communities both socially and economically.”
Senator Joe Flaherty said, "These are three key projects and will make a timely and visible difference in our communities."

Longford People’s Park: €500,000
Landscaped car park with accessible and EV bays at Longford People’s Park, addressing urgent demand from the highly used Sunflower Special Needs Playground and Skatepark.
Lanesboro Sensory Garden: €109,017
Restoration and enhancement of Lanesboro’s Sensory Garden and Incubation Hub to support inclusion, enterprise, biodiversity, and creating a vibrant and sustainable community space.
Lanesboro Eco Activity Park: €49,500
Preparation and submission of planning application for the Lanesboro Eco Activity Park, water access, integrating existing and new amenities into a landmark town park on the banks of Lough Ree.
