Gardaí were alerted to an altercation involving a large group of people at Palace Crescent at approximately 2.45am, and reinforcements from four separate districts - including a Regional Response Unit based in Mullingar - were required to bring the situation under control.

Four individuals, including a juvenile, were arrested at the scene and taken to Longford Garda Station. They were later released and are scheduled appear before a sitting of Longford District Court on September 15.
