Defendant appeared before Judge Kenneth Connolly at Longford Circuit Court

A defendant who pleaded guilty to a multitude of thefts and being in possession of an offensive weapon at Longford Garda Station has been remanded in custody and he will be sentenced in the new year.

Robbie O'Haire of 3 Camlin Mews, Longford was arraigned at last week's sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court and he pleaded guilty to nine charges, including eight thefts.

The defendant, who was in custody, was arraigned by Judge Kenneth Connolly and he pleaded guilty to stealing €12 and £40 sterling from a vehicle at Ballagh Road, Stonepark on June 21 last.#

Mr O'Haire also pleaded guilty to stealing a jacket worth €100 on the same day. The defendant admitted the theft of a pack of Benson and Hedges cigarettes, from a vehicle and four other counts of attempting to commit theft at the same location and on the same date.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to being in possession of an offensive weapon on June 27 last when he entered Longford Garda Station on with an article that had a blade or was sharply pointed in his possession contrary to Section 9 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.

Judge Connolly directed that a pre-sanction report be completed as he said he wants to gain more insight into Mr O'Haire's background and personal circumstances before finalising the sentence.

Judge Connolly remanded Mr O'Haire in continuing custody before adjourning the case until the beginning of the next sessions of Longford Circuit Criminal Court on February 3, 2026 for finalisation.
