Longford athlete wins three medals and sets new record at European Championships in Madeira

Edel Kilemade Maguire receives her Gold Medal for the 400m Final in Women's 65 at the European Veterans Championships in Madeira. The other medalists are Anny Undheim (Norway) & Gianna Lanzini (Italy)

Edel Kilemade Maguire, a former member of Longford Athletics Club and now a member of Clonliffe Harriers AC, performed very impressively at the recent European Veterans Championships in Madeira.
Formerly of Battery Road, Longford, Edel won the Gold Medal in the 400m race in Women's  65 -69 age category and set a new European record of 68.44 seconds. The other medalists were Anny Undheim (Norway) and Gianna Lanzini (Italy). 
Edel also won Gold in the High Jump & was second, winning a silver Medal in the 200m race.
