Longford's hedgerows are the subject of this year's National Photography Competition
Longford's hobby photographers are being called upon to capture the natural beauty of our rural landscape for submission to a national photography competition.
The only stipulation is that the pictures must focus on the pivotal role hedgerows play in ensuring healthy biodiversity.
Following on from the great success and huge response enjoyed by last year’s inaugural competition, the ICMSA has also announced its continued support and co-production – with Hedgerows Ireland - of the 2025 National Photography Competition.

The organisers particularly want people from all over Longford to use their phones to snap a picture that captures all the magnificence of rural Ireland's beautiful hedgerows at this time of the year.

Speaking about the competition, President of ICMSA Denis Drennan, said, “ICMSA is always looking for opportunities to show the real commitment of their farmer-members to the environment and nature. The massive volume of entries to the competition showed the appetite of the public and the growing appreciation and awareness of the critical role and indispensability of our rural hedges.”
Substantial cash prizes are offered in both categories ‘senior’ and ‘under 18s’ and the winners in both categories will have their cheques presented by An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, at the ICMSA AGM in the Limerick Radisson on Friday November 28
