Judge: 'It was hardly a sightseeing tour they were on' Midlands man a passenger in stolen car

A Midlands man pleaded guilty to being knowingly transported in a stolen car, during last week's sitting of Tullamore District Court.

Forty-five year old David Kearney from 10, Grove Street, Crinkle was arrested by gardaí on the night of June 19 last on Military Road, Crinkle.

Sergeant Richard Thornton told the court that they were operating a checkpoint on Military Road when the stolen car, which had been stolen in Thurles two days beforehand, approached. There were three men inside, including the defendant. The male driver in the car tried to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended.
