RIP: Mullahoran community mourns death of 'warm, friendly and caring' Nellie Arkins

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General hospital on Friday, October 17 of Nellie Arkins (nee Daly), Pottlebawn, Kilcogy surrounded by her loving family.

In her early 80’s Nellie was one of nature’s ladies with her warm, friendly and caring manner she will be sadly missed around Pottlebawn.

The tragic death of daughter Rosetta in 1995 was a severe blow to Nellie and Luke but together with their families and their strong faith they carried on.

Then later when Luke took ill Nellie was there for him and for 14 years she tended to his every need with her willing hands and ready smile she became his carer until he passed away in 2019.

Nellie was also predeceased by her sisters Peggy and Kitty and brother Janey and is survived by her daughters Kathy and Evelyn , sons-in-law Andy Hennesy and Kevin Loftus, grandchildren Amber, Noah, Mia and Kara, sisters Nan Harten, Mollie Cooke and brother Jimmy Daly, sister-in-law Carmel relatives neighbours and friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy on the loss of this great lady.

Nellie’s remains reposed at Reilly’s Funeral Home, Kilcogy on Sunday evening, October 19 and funeral took place following requiem mass celebrated by Fr P J Hughes in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran on Monday to local cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
