Cllr Paul Ross said the signage at the junction at Moor Ardagh off the R393 needs to be reviewed to improve the safety.
A Fine Gael councillor has called on Longford County Council to examine the junction at The Moor Ardagh off the R393 road to improve the safety to review the signage in the Ardagh village area in two separate motions last week.
Cllr Paul Ross also stated at last week's Ballymahon Municipal District the signage at the junction at Moor Ardagh off the R393 needs to be reviewed to improve the safety.
The motions were seconded by Cllr Mick Cahill and they received unanimous support.
Cllr Ross explained why he felt that improvements were necessary to enhance safety in the area.
"It's a widely used junction off the R392, the regional road from Carrickboy to Longford and it's quite a dangerous bend and I suppose people find the junction a little bit confusing.
Cllr Ross also told the Longford Leader there was also kerbs taken away from the junction and he had been contacted by the local tidy towns group who said they wanted the area to 'look more aesthetically pleasing'.
"It does not really work that well that junction and now you have more kids walking down to the football pitch from the village so it's something I want to get addressed."
Senior Executive Engineer Brian McNeela said the council was looking into what steps they could take at the junction to improve safety.
Cllr Ross said Ardagh Tidy Towns had asked him to mention signage and he called on Longford County Council to review the signage in the Ardagh village area as the signage as on the approach to the village the signs have gone into a poor condition.
"The signage on the N55 coming from Edgeworthstown to Ardagh is quite confusing and poor and all around the area there are signs that need to be addressed.
Longford County Council said they would assess the signage and report back to Cllr Ross and the local representatives.
