Two local organisations are set to benefit from the 2015 National Lottery Health Grants, after €12,000 was allocated to Longford.
St Christopher’s will receive €10,000, which will allow them to purchase a new bus, while the Edgeworthstown branch of Arthritis Ireland will benefit to the tune of €2,000.
Fine Gael TD for Longford-Westmeath James Bannon welcomed the news, stating: “Local health-related services are essential to our communities and there are many groups who provide such services throughout Longford. Thanks to their work, and their dedication to assisting those who need a helping hand, our communities are better places to live in.
“Organisations from Longford have previously received National Lottery grants from the Department of Health,” he continued. “After all, these groups and organisations play a pivotal role in our improving the quality of life in our localities and I am pleased that the Department of Health is again looking to invest in such groups and recognise the valuable work they do.”
