Teenager appears in Midlands court accused of rape and defilement
A book of evidence has been served on a teenager who is accused of rape and defilement in the Midlands.
The teenager (18), who cannot be named, is accused of defilement of a child under the age of 15, rape and sexual assault on January 7, 2023 and sexual assault and rape on January 28, 2023.
Garda Lisa Murray gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the accused.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the DPP had directed that the case be sent forward to the next sittings of the Central Criminal Court. He said there were five charges in the book of evidence.
Judge Andrew Cody said that bail was to continue under the same conditions as set out in the district court.
He issued the standard alibi warning and he granted legal aid for a solicitor and two counsel and sent the case forward to the Central Criminal Court. Judge Cody said reporting restrictions applied in the case.
