A popular south Longford bar and guesthouse has received the green light, subject to multiple conditions, to substantially increase its accommodation capacity.
The Rustic Inn, a renowned family run business in Abbeyshrule, successfully attained planning approval to add a first storey extension.
Goldline Taverns Ltd lodged plans last October to construct the first-storey extension consisting of five ensuite bedrooms to its premises.
Longford County Council approved the plans subject to 12 conditions.
Conditional approval was also given 'for the installation of an elevator to facilitate the accessible bedrooms and all associated site works at The Rustic Inn Main St, Drumanure Abbeyshrule'.
The first condition stipulates the "development shall be carried out in its entirety in accordance with the plans, documents, specifications lodged as part of the application on ‘30/09/25’ and by way of further Information received on the ‘16/04/25.
The planning document also states the proposed development shall be used as B&B or guesthouse tourist accommodation use only and the guest rooms shall be used for short-term (maximum one month only) tourist accommodation'.
A third condition said prior to the commencement of the development the applicant should submit a Construction Waste.
Management Plan for the proposed development and a Construction Traffic Management Plan.
