Jennifer McCabe has been appointed as principal of Cnoc Mhuire, Granard where she will succeed Pauline McBrien who served in the role for eight years.

Ms McCabe, who lives in Killoe, will officially commence her tenure as principal from next Monday, September 1.

She joined the teaching staff of Cnoc Mhuire in 2017, having previously worked as an English and Geography teacher in St. Raphaela's, Stillorgan, Co Dublin for nine years.

Ms McCabe brings a wealth of experience to her new role and she also has experience working with the SEC, NIPT and the PDST, further broadening and enriching her professional experience.

Ms McCabe paid tribute to recently retired principal, Ms Pauline McBrien. “I would like to sincerely thank Ms McBrien for her dedication to Cnoc Mhuire and I hope to continue her good work in the years ahead.”

Ms McCabe continued, “I am honoured to lead a CEIST school and to continue the proud legacy of the Mercy Sisters.

“Personally, it is a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated and talented team here at Cnoc Mhuire. Guided by our CEIST ethos, we aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where students mature, build confidence, and show respect for others.

“We encourage them to reach their academic potential, use their talents to benefit others, and to engage fully in the life of the school — academically, spiritually, and socially.

“I am looking forward to the road ahead, particularly in guiding the school’s extension in partnership with the Department of Education and Science.”

Announcing the news, the Board of Management stated, “The Board of Management is delighted to appoint Ms Jennifer McCabe, B.A, PGCE, M.Ed, to the position of Principal of Cnoc Mhuire Granard from September 1.

She has served as AP1 Programmes Coordinator for the past five years and previously held the role of Digital Coordinator.

“She has been a positive and enthusiastic role model for her students and prides herself on helping them to develop both academically and personally.

“The Board of Management on behalf of the school community wishes Jennifer every success in her new role.”
