The case will be heard at Longford District Court on Monday
Two gardaí in the Longford district are set to appear before Longford District Court on Monday charged with corruption offences connected to a drugs search.
The upcoming court appearance will happen after a lengthy investigation by the anti-corruption unit (GACU) into the search.
Both suspects, a sergeant and a rank-and-file officer, are due to be identified next Monday.
The two men have served in An Garda Síochána for a significant number of years based on their combined service and level of experience.
It is understood the gardaí were charged after GACU investigated allegations that they been involved in perverting the course of justice.
The sergeant and the garda were arrested by appointment on Monday, July 28.
The pair were subsequently charged with corruption offences and released on station bail.
The sergeant was suspended from An Garda Síochána on Monday, July 26 and the garda has been suspended for a longer period of time.
The latest development comes after a week when a controversial report emerged that road policing officers displayed a 'blatant disregard' to carrying out their duties.
Justin Kelly was also last week named as the successor to Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
